Memorial Day
I read this in a newspaper article about a soldier who had died in the Iraq war. I thought the saying was perfect and just in time for Memorial Day.
"There are only two defining forces who have ever offered to die for you, One is Jesus Christ and the other is the American G.I. One died for your soul, the other for your freedom. May we never forget either." - Anonymous

Great-Grandma Hughes
As my brothers know, Gram never really liked her picture taken. If you tried, she either stuck her tongue out at you, or did something else that was funny. Well, Rich managed to snap a few photos of her and we got her laughing. Of course, by the following pictures, you can see that she was starting to hide. She did for a few, but then forgot about the camera after awhile and we could get a few more. I do believe that she is enjoying herself down here in Florida and I don't think that she hasn't laughed as much since she has been here.
She sits outside most of the day, on the front swing in the morning then on the cool deck in the afternoon. She has been doing alot of crocheting and she says that she has even tried to find her crochet hook in the middle of the night. :) We keep telling her that she doesn't have to do it, but she states that it helps to keep her hands limber and not so tight. She has really enjoyed sitting a little in the sun (she is getting a tan) and enjoys the birds and the chickens.
She has gotten into the pool, ok, sat on the edge and put her feet in. At least she can say that she has been in the pool. :) Gram has been enjoying Pris and Marmalade (they walk over to see her with me). I will try to get a pic. of her in the pool.
All in all, I think she has had a good trip. Of course, mom and dad are spoiling her, but I think that they enjoy her time here.

Marmalade
Marms for short. He showed up in the yard in mid-February. Trey came hollering saying that "Garfield" was in the back yard. So, of all people, Rich went to check him out. He slowly walked up to the cat and soon as he got about 3 feet from him, the cat rolled over so Rich could rub his belly. To say the least, Rich was hooked. So now we have another cat. He is well behaved, comes when he is called and likes to go for a walk around the yard, moms yard, and down the road with you. All in all, he is pretty cool.
