Thanksgiving Day

Daytona Beach Sunrise

Tide is beginning to go out. Waves are pretty nice. Of course, hard to see them from this, because we are on the 25th floor.

This is how Bob spent his morning. Laying in bed, eating Ben & Jerry's Phish Ice Cream. :)

Just want to wish everyone a Happy Thanksgiving and to show you all how Daytona Beach is. We are staying in a hotel with Uncle Bob and Aunt Kathy and having Thanksgiving dinner here. Will post some more pictures later. Love you all. Have a great day!!! Gobble, Gobble!!

Once upon a Time (for Stacy)

Once upon a Time : 30 years ago, I was 11, had braces and long hair. My 6th grade teacher was Mr. Scholes (spelling?) and when you got in trouble in his class (yes, talking) you didn't write sentances, but paragraphs. In these paragraphs were big long words and if you didn't know the meaning of a particular word, you had to write the definition to that word also. Sad part of 6th grade was that my best friend, Charla was dying of cancer.

20 years ago, I was 21 and working at Coastal Jaw Surgery as a surgical assistant and Tim was one of my first patients. I also drove a 77 Camaro. I hadn't met Rich yet.

10 years ago, I had a great 4 1/2 year old son. We lived on a canal off of Hunters Lake.

Frustration & Laughing

Football is almost finished. Trey's school has one game left and we aren't anticipating him even playing in it. It can be pretty frustrating going to watch your son play football and the coach's don't let him play. No he isn't the only one that doesn't play. Seems the coach's have their favorite players (of course the players are the coach's sons) and they seem to play every position that is available. From quarterback, to running back, to defensive ends, to punter, to oh, who knows what. They have won games in complete shut outs (55-0) and yet they "try" to get the kids into the game on defense when there is 2 minutes left in the entire game and we have the ball. Then of course, they all huddle on the field after the game and "apologize" for some of the kids not being able to play.

It is really frustrating. Yes, I know, Trey is 14 and only a freshman and that this is his first year playing football. But ya would think that when there has been shut out games that they would try to let the other players play instead of raising the score even higher. When they know that kids haven't played at all in the game(s) and yet do nothing. These kids stand by them in the games and work hard in practice. Trey even had one coach tell him "I am not playing you, cuz you don't work hard enough for me." Mind you this particular coach wasn't at practice most of that week and didn't see Trey running extra laps AFTER practice. It gets even more frustrating that these are supposed to be "godly" men and one is even an interim pastor. Shows great examples to the kids. I know they are only human, but you are suppossed to set the example.

Anyways, Treys team is 5-2 with their last game next Friday. Sorry we don't have any pictures to post, but I think he has played a total of 5 minutes the whole season. I do have a picture of him on the sidelines, but................

So last night, I believe that Trey had had it. He was extremely frustrated, not just over the football game, but just personal stuff at school. His comment on the way home? "I want to hit a tree" so I pretended to pull over and he was ready to get out. Rich told him that they could go and hit each other in the back yard. (Rich bought pads, helmet, mouth guard in the beginning of the year trying to talk Trey into hitting with him, but Trey was a no go.)

Rich didn't realize how strong Trey had become. They flattened each other a few times until about a 1/2 hour later of doing this, Trey got the wind knocked out of him. That was enough. I do have to say that I wish I had the camera during all of this. I have not laughed that hard in a very long time. Trey laid Rich out a couple of times and he would slowly get up. It was hysterical, I really do wish i had some pics. Trey did bruise and mark up Rich's right shoulder pretty good.

I think that they did enjoy that little bit of physical contact with each other and will probably do it again. I will definitely get pictures then. In fact, I think I may suggest it a little more often, cuz I need a good laugh now and then
